Мы выражаем нашу серьезную обеспокоенность в связи с тем, что представители путинской России оказались включены в официальную программу Венецианской биеннале, одного из наиболее значимых событий в мире современного искусства.
С начала полномасштабного вторжения России в Украину в 2022 году, официальная Россия не была представлена на биеннале, поскольку художники из России отказались представлять страну, осуществляющую военное вторжение, а в 2024 году Россия предоставила свой павильон Боливии. Однако в 2026 году руководство Венецианской биеннале во главе с президентом Пьетранджело Буттафуоко одобрило провокационное возвращение официальной России, проигнорировав позицию международного культурного сообщества. Российская группа Платформы российских демократических сил при ПАСЕ полагает, что включение страны-агрессора в программу биеннале создаёт опасный прецедент, работающий на российскую государственную пропаганду.
Биеннале является культурной институцией, действующей в тесном сотрудничестве с итальянским правительством. Обращаясь к вам, мы призываем исключить официальных представителей России в Биеннале до тех пор, пока не прекратятся военные действия в Украине; не будет восстановлен суверенитет и территориальная целостность Украины; и не будут выплачены репарации за ущерб, причинённый Украине и её гражданам.
Мы готовы сотрудничать с правительством Италии для объединения и поддержки тех российских художников и работников культуры в изгнании, которые выступают против войны, разделяют ценности свободы и демократии, а также отражают подлинное многообразие российского общества, а не искусственно сконструированную концепцию фашистского режима.
Такие масштабные культурные события не оторваны от мировой политики: это важное пространство для выражения позиций, формирования смыслов и демонстрации того, какие ценности мировое сообщество готово защищать. Мы верим, что у Правительства Италии есть возможность подтвердить ценности, которые она представляет, как свободная, демократическая страна и член Европейского союза.

To the Honorable Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni:
We write to express our serious concern that representatives of Putin’s Russia have been included in the official program of the Venice Biennale, one of the foremost events of the contemporary art world.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has not been officially represented at the festival, as artists from Russia refused to represent a country carrying out a military invasion; in 2024 Russia provided its pavilion to Bolivia. But in 2026 the leadership of the Venice Biennale, headed by President Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, approved Russia’s controversial return, despite the complaints of the international cultural community. The Russian group of the Platform of Russian Democratic Forces at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe believes that including an aggressor state in the Biennale’s program creates a dangerous precedent that serves Russian state propaganda.
The Biennale is a cultural institution that operates in close conjunction with the Italian government. We appeal to you to call for the exclusion all official Russian participants in the Biennale, until such date as all aggression in Ukraine has ceased; its rightful territory has been restored; and reparations for the damage of the war has been properly paid out. We are ready to work with the government of Italy to rally Russian artists and intellectuals in exile who oppose the war, represent the values of freedom and democracy, and reflect the genuine point of view of Russian society, rather than the artificially constructed conception of a fascist regime.
Cultural events like the Biennale are not removed from global politics; they are important spaces in which to take a stand, construct meaning, and demonstrate which values the global community is willing to defend. Consequently, we believe that the government of Italy now has a historic opportunity to affirm the values it represents, as a free, democratic country and member of the European Union.

Le scriviamo per esprimere la nostra seria preoccupazione in merito all’inclusione di rappresentanti della Russia di Putin nel programma ufficiale della Biennale di Venezia, uno dei più importanti appuntamenti del mondo dell’arte contemporanea.
Dall’inizio dell’invasione su larga scala della Russia contro l’Ucraina nel 2022, la Russia non è stata ufficialmente rappresentata alla manifestazione, poiché gli artisti russi si sono rifiutati di rappresentare un Paese impegnato in un’aggressione militare; nel 2024 la Russia ha ceduto il proprio padiglione alla Bolivia. Tuttavia, nel 2026 la direzione della Biennale di Venezia, presieduta dal Presidente Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, ha approvato il controverso ritorno della Russia, nonostante le proteste della comunità culturale internazionale. Il gruppo russo della Piattaforma delle Forze Democratiche Russe presso l’Assemblea Parlamentare del Consiglio d’Europa ritiene che l’inclusione di uno Stato aggressore nel programma della Biennale costituisca un pericoloso precedente, che funge da strumento di propaganda dello Stato russo.
La Biennale è un’istituzione culturale che opera in stretta sinergia con il Governo italiano. La invitiamo pertanto a chiedere l’esclusione di tutti i partecipanti ufficiali russi dalla Biennale, fino a quando non cesseranno tutte le azioni di aggressione in Ucraina, non sarà ripristinata l’integrità territoriale del Paese e non saranno corrisposte le riparazioni per i danni causati dalla guerra. Siamo pronti a collaborare con il Governo italiano per coinvolgere artisti e intellettuali russi in esilio che si oppongono alla guerra, che rappresentano i valori della libertà e della democrazia e che riflettono il genuino punto di vista della società russa, in contrapposizione alla concezione artificialmente costruita da un regime di stampo fascista.
Gli eventi culturali come la Biennale non sono avulsi dalla politica globale; al contrario, rappresentano spazi fondamentali in cui prendere posizione, costruire significato e dimostrare quali valori la comunità internazionale è disposta a difendere. Riteniamo pertanto che il Governo italiano abbia oggi un’opportunità storica per affermare i valori che rappresenta, in qualità di Paese libero e democratico e membro dell’Unione Europea.
